After the departure of founding member Frank Carter in 2011, Gallows embarked on a new adventure in their music, hiring Wade MacNeil to take up vocal duties after the disbanding of his own band, Alexisonfire. The departure of Carter polarised fans, who believed that Gallows would never amount to who they were in their heyday in the early 2000s', and with MacNeil‘s debut on their self-titled LP, it was evident that their sound had been forever changed with his addition.

‘Bonfire Season’ is a stop-gap between albums for the band as they moved to create their second album with MacNeil, ‘Desolation Sounds’, and it was the lead single from that album. Released in limited number as a 7" single with a stunning splatter pattern, 'Bonfire Season' was the real beginning in the new age of Gallows.
