Review: Ziva – ‘Dayz’

A young, but proficient talent, Ziva has wasted no time in starting her music career, announcing herself in style with a string of accomplished singles. While still in high school, Ziva and her producer and engineer 12ELVE have already proved their skills, forcing their way into the spotlight, building on the DIY sounds of early work and putting their talent on the world’s stage.

Their first proper release for Ziva, ‘Dayz’ opens with an ethereal series of tones that are backed by a subtle but rapid string of percussive beats. It’s a surprisingly evolved sound, one that holds tight to a sultry central melody, joining with Ziva’s smooth, smoky vocals to make a wonderfully unexpected sound. Far more than your standard mainstream release, ‘Dayz’ has a textured sound that goes far beyond the artist and producer’s young age, ensuring that you will be entranced from start to finish.

In their own words, the collaborative work of Ziva and 12ELVE is “two teenagers who are trying their best to have fun and make good music”, and with ‘Dayz’ you can definitely feel the vibes they are putting out.

A pop song with a far more nuanced sound, ‘Dayz’ is a wonderfully illustrative single for both artists. Ziva’s vocals are simply stunning, ensuring you’ll be hanging to every line, while 12ELVE’s work producing and shaping the track means that you are never left feeling unsatisfied.

Simply put, ‘Dayz’ is potentially one of the most surprising and successful tracks we’ve heard this month, rising from a gentle, unassuming introduction to create a lavish cacophony of celestial sounds. You can stream the new single above via Spotify, as well as on Apple Music, iTunes, Amazon Music, Deezer and more.
