Review: Avaunt – ‘T.O.R.N.’

A band hailing from Enfield, Connecticut, Avaunt’s sound is caught somewhere between rock and metal, creating a progressive hybrid sound that is influenced by the likes of Deftones, Breaking Benjamin, and Killswitch Engage. Arriving on the back of the debut single ‘Warning Sign’, the band first premiered their sound in June of 2019, carving their path through the evolving heavy rock soundscape with purpose and an unwavering confidence.

After refining and perfecting their sound with a string of vibrant single, the band are back on the warpath with the release of ‘T.O.R.N.’, an unstoppable new single that is taken from their upcoming EP, ‘Behind the Mask’. Immediately impressive, ‘T.O.R.N.’ arrives on a surge of electric guitar and rapid-fire drums, creating an instant progressive metal sound that seamlessly transitions into a stream of bristling, atmospherics.

It’s a dynamic aural assault that is built around an expansive sonic skeleton, creating a depth and unmistakable sound that is driven by that band’s passion for music. The third single to be taken from the upcoming EP, ‘T.O.R.N.’ is arguably the most accomplished, illustrating the band’s sound with a power that is simply undeniable.

Available now on Apple Music, iTunes, Amazon, CD Baby, and Soundcloud, ‘T.O.R.N.’ is an absolute force to be reckoned with.

Score: 7.5/10
